Group Therapy
A fundamental truth: relationships are the places we most often get hurt, but also the places that have the greatest capacity to change us. To be in relationship with others is a critical component of moving towards thriving instead of surviving. Group Therapy offers a unique therapeutic experience to be in relationship with others that can hold a mirror up to ourself to initiate change.
Why Group Therapy?
“Members of a cohesive group feel warmth and comfort in the group and a sense of belongingness; they value the group and feel in turn that they are valued, accepted, and supported by other members.”
— Irvin Yalom
As alone as we feel in our pain, we don’t have to be alone in our pain. Group offers the opportunity for you to be seen in your pain by someone else.
Group provides a confidential space for you to put into practice the relational skills and insight you might have gained from individual therapy with others who are also motivated to do the same.
Clients often report decreased feelings of isolation and loneliness as they experience authentic relationships in the context of a safe, caring, and confidential setting.
Give and receive honest and direct feedback to other group members that will increase your emotional capacity for intimacy in all relationships, including those outside of the group.
Address spoken or unspoken relational “family rules” that have long influenced how you navigate relationships and relate to others.
